    New bridges are being erected north of the DFW Airport on the future southbound SH 121 lanes.This structures yard near southbound SH 121 is home to the equipment and materials needed to build the bridges on the DFW Connector Project.This new bridge north of the DFW Airport will connect the future southbound SH 121 lanes to southbound International Parkway.
    These new bridges are being built where southbound SH 121 meets the Cottonbelt Rail Line.Grading crews are excavating and embanking – moving dirt to areas that need it – to prepare for the new southbound SH 121 to westbound SH 114 frontage roads.The lime yard north of SH 114/121 near Texan Trail will allow us to mix our own lime, which is used to stabilize the ground before paving.
    This yard at Mustang Drive is where we will keep and perform maintenance on construction equipment.Construction crews have begun pouring new columns at Main Street bridge. In the median of SH 114/121 between Main Street and Texan Trail, crews are building a soil nail wall. The steel bars used to build a soil nail wall will stabilize the soil that holds up the wall.
    In the median of SH 114/121, drainage crews are installing box culvert, which will be used for storm water drainage. Shown is the DFW Connector concrete batch plant north of SH 114/121 near Texan Trail. All concrete paving for the new roads will be made at this plant. This new bridge north of the DFW Airport will connect the future southbound SH 121 lanes to southbound International Parkway.

    At the concrete batch plant, crews will combine sand, pea gravel and coarse rock to make concrete. These three materials will be placed in the conveyor belts seen here before being mixed.Giant silos like this one store concrete until it can be loaded into trucks.

    This picture of the construction at Main Street bridge was taken from the north looking south. Crews are building this soil nail wall in the median of SH 114 west of Main Street bridge. The steel bars used to build a soil nail wall will stabilize the soil that holds up the wall. This excavator is loading dirt into a haul truck. This particular type of haul truck holds 40 tons of dirt.
    Once completed, southbound SH 121 traffic will go over this bridge to get to southbound International Parkway. The next step in construction of this bridge will be to form and pour the tops of the columns, called caps. This picture depicts a bridge in various stages of construction. Shown in the foreground of this picture are the drilled shafts, the first step in construction of a bridge. In the background of the picture are completed columns. This piece of equipment is called a sheep’s foot roller, which is used to compact dirt. Shown here is the roller where the new continuous southbound SH 121 frontage roads will be.
    These trucks are transporting dirt west of existing southbound SH 121 lanes (north of the DFW Airport). Now that these columns are finished, crews prepare to work on the tops of the columns, called caps. These columns will be a part of the bridges that will eventually carry traffic over the Cottonbelt Rail to southbound International Parkway.
